Deposits and payouts

Deposit address

An address assigned to one customer so that anything sent to it can be credited to that customer, with no memo or reference to get wrong.

Giving each customer their own deposit address is the simplest way to know who paid. Whatever arrives at that address belongs to that customer, today or a year from now. There's no reference field for the payer to forget, unlike a shared address with a memo or tag.

The trade-off is that funds end up spread across many addresses, which is why platforms sweep them into a treasury.

  • Deposit address: permanent, any amount, suits balances and top-ups.
  • Payment link: one set amount, one payment, suits invoices and checkouts.

On Valtu

wallets.forCustomer("cus_42") returns that customer's wallet, creating it the first time (the call is idempotent). It has one EVM address for every supported EVM network, a Tron address and a Bitcoin address. Deposits are reported by signed webhook: credit on deposit.confirmed, the status that means the deposit is final. Only each network's real token contract counts, so look-alike tokens sent to the address are ignored.
