Treasury wallet

Also called: Settlement wallet

The wallet where a business collects its own funds, typically filled by sweeps from customer addresses and protected by the strictest sending rules.

Most businesses that take crypto end up with three kinds of wallet: one per customer to receive deposits, a treasury where those funds are collected, and smaller operational wallets for payouts and fees. The treasury holds the most, so it gets the tightest controls.

Typical rules for a treasury:

  • It receives sweeps from customer wallets.
  • It sends only to a short list of saved addresses, such as your payout wallet or your exchange account.
  • Every outgoing transfer needs approval from more than one person.

Wallets have a type: user (one per customer), treasury and operational. Sweep tasks move confirmed deposits from user wallets into a treasury or operational wallet on a schedule you choose. Approval policies can require approvals for every treasury transfer, or allow only saved addresses. A common layout is in accepting stablecoin payments.
