EVM
Also called: Ethereum Virtual Machine, EVM-compatible network
The execution environment of Ethereum, also used by BNB Chain, Polygon, Base, Lisk and many others, so they share address formats, token standards and tooling.
The Ethereum Virtual Machine runs Ethereum's smart contracts. Many other networks adopted it, so code, wallets and tools built for Ethereum work on them too. Together they're called EVM networks.
What EVM networks share:
- Addresses: the same
0x…format, and a private key gives the same address on all of them. - Tokens: the ERC-20 standard, called BEP-20 on BNB Chain.
- Fees: paid as gas in each network's own native coin.
- Ordering: each account's transactions are numbered with a nonce.
What they don't share: the coins themselves. USDC on Base and USDC on Ethereum are separate tokens on separate networks, with different contracts.
On Valtu
Each wallet has one EVM address, the same on every EVM network Valtu supports: Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Base and Lisk. Each deposit is tagged with the network and coin it arrived on. Networks Valtu doesn't support aren't watched, so list the supported ones clearly for customers.
