Networks and tokens

Testnet

Also called: Mainnet

A copy of a network where coins have no value, used to build and test integrations; mainnet is the real network where coins have value.

Most networks run test versions alongside the real one (mainnet). Testnets work the same way, but their coins are free from faucets and worth nothing, so developers can test deposits, payouts and failures without risking money.

Testnets differ from mainnet in ways that matter: fees and congestion are not realistic, and test tokens don't always match the mainnet token's contract or behaviour. Plan a small, careful first run on mainnet after testing.

Keep test and live strictly apart: separate API keys, separate webhook endpoints, and a clear marker in your own systems, so a test deposit can never credit a real balance.

On Valtu

Every workspace starts on testnets with free test coins, the same dashboard and the same API you'll use live. When you're ready, you open a live workspace and switch keys. The networks page lists the mainnet networks and coins live workspaces can use. Start with the integration guide.
